WB051. A Tunbridge Ware jewellery box veneered in birds’ eye maple with a view of Cobham Hall set within a small Van Dyke border. Re-lined in red velvet with ring compartments. Hand written paper label to the base, “Cobham Hall, Kent, Seat of Earl Darnley. Easter 1867 (?)”.
Small Van Dyke borders were a characteristic of the work of George Wise Junior of Tonbridge.
