The Edenbridge Galleries![]() Voyage of Discovery 10th - 17th MayYou are invited to visit The Edenbridge Galleries between 10th & 17th May for A Voyage of Discovery.As part of the celebrations to commemorate ninety years of The British Antique Dealers' Association and to celebrate the first birthday of The Edenbridge Galleries, the dealers within the gallery collective at Edenbridge will be exhibiting items of special merit from their stock. Your voyage round the gallery will give you a chance to discover pieces of special interest and Amherst Antiques will be including Tunbridge Ware specifically selected for the occasion. Primarily the focus of our Voyage of Discovery will be on two octagonal tea caddies from the eighteenth & nineteenth centuries, together with a series of photographs of other similar Tunbridge Ware caddies. ![]() Dating to circa 1795, the first is by John Robinson, the only London Tunbridge Ware maker known to have traded both in London and Tunbridge Wells. SOLD ![]() The second caddy, attributed to Edmund Nye, dates to some fifty years later and marks the beginning of the use of Berlin woolwork patterns in Tunbridge Ware. SOLD Accompanying these pieces will be a series of photographs showing other octagonal Tunbridge Ware tea caddies from the nineteenth century. ![]() There will also be the opportunity to view a box with a rare marquetry panel of a bullfinch, designed in the 1850’s by Thomas Barton during his creative partnership with Edmund Nye. SOLD Master Class 14th MayAs part of The Voyage of Discovery celebrations Dianne Brick will be holding a Master Class - Tunbridge Ware Explored - on Wednesday 14th May, when the Tunbridge Ware illustrated above will be the subject for discussion. Tickets are bookable in advance for the Master Class from The Edenbridge Galleries direct. SOLD ![]() The pieces are from a private collection, which has been lovingly compiled over the last thirty years and which contains both painted and mosaic Tunbridge Ware. Amherst Antiques are most pleased to be offering the entire collection for sale over the next few months. ![]() Initially some twenty pieces of delightful painted Tunbridge Ware will be for sale at The Edenbridge Galleries from 10th May, so be sure to include our Voyage of Discovery in your travels. This takes 37 minutes. Trains run on the hour from Victoria Station; change at East Croydon to connect to the Edenbridge Town service above. The Edenbridge Galleries are a 7 minute walk south along the High Street. By Car: From the M25, junction 6: follow signs to Oxted/Westerham on the A25; then follow signs to Edenbridge on B2026. Approaching from the south, Edenbridge is on the B2026, 20 minutes from Tunbridge Wells in Kent and 15 minutes from East Grinstead, Sussex. Free parking is available throughout the town.
